The construction of various parts of the cyclic voltammeter was done. Our group built the potentiostat using breadboard and through-hole components for basic testings. The results were satisfactory. With more understanding of the potentiostat, we started on the PCB which is an advanced substitution of the breadboard prototype that provided more accuracy and smaller size. The PCB was designed and sent for manufacturing. Soldering of the components was done immediately. The testing on the PCB contains much less noise and improves the accuracy of the prototype.
Our group also constructed a homemade Ag/AgCl reference electrode. The testing result against a commercial Ag/AgCl reference electrode (2.2mV) was within the acceptable range of 20mV. It proves our homemade reference electrode can function properly.
In the future, the group will start to consolidate the knowledge of various parts so as to make sure it will be a smooth process to connect all the components for the final prototype. Testings will be conducted using standard solution and then we will compare the results obtained with the standard graphs from a commercial CV.
